If you call a support representative, you will likely be offered a Sweetheart Deal. You may be tempted to accept this offer and the representative will work hard to get you to do this. You can of course accept the offer but before you do, answer these questions:

Do you already have another service?
If yes, do you want two services?
Will the offered deal resolve the issues you have with the ISP?
Is the deal a permanent fix or are you just prolonging the inevitable?
Will you be still be looking for a new ISP after the sweetheart deal is over?

If you are leaving your old service because you don't like the customer service or you need more web space or the news service is poor, a special deal offered by your old ISP is not likely to resolve your issues.

Always ask for a 'confirmation of cancellation' to be sent to you by mail or email. Verify at time of cancellation the service cut-off date and time.
